Oversized Chandelier Cost: What Each Size Step Actually Adds

Round multi-tier crystal chandelier in a large modern living room, photographed with the surrounding furniture so the scale reads

In our catalogue, moving one size step up on the same chandelier adds between $110 and $2,000 in list price, depending on which step you take. Going from 80 cm to 200 cm on the same silhouette costs 4.19 to 5.79 times as much. Here is the measured ladder.

What an oversized chandelier costs at each diameter

Across the 1,046 active products in the PALERILL catalogue there are 7,355 variant prices. Of those, 796 variant names state a diameter with an explicit unit, and 788 of those fall inside a plausible 15 to 300 centimetre window. Using the 788 measurable configurations, the median list price of a chandelier with an 80 cm diameter is $1,394. It rises to $2,183 at 100 cm, $3,283 at 120 cm, $4,683 at 150 cm and $6,333 at 180 cm. Each figure is a median taken across different products, so it mixes silhouettes, crystal grades and tier counts; it describes the shape of the price range rather than the price of any single fixture. For one named model the pattern is the same but the absolute numbers usually sit lower, because the frame geometry, the suspension design and the crate are settled once and then scaled up.

Diameter Variants priced Median list price Lowest Highest
40 cm 25 $415 $256 $1,875
50 cm 82 $694 $341 $2,431
60 cm 126 $1,028 $395 $3,208
80 cm 149 $1,394 $469 $5,583
100 cm 89 $2,183 $530 $10,171
120 cm 37 $3,283 $843 $13,595
150 cm 23 $4,683 $1,021 $8,883
180 cm 16 $6,333 $785 $9,283

The spread inside a single row is wider than the spread between rows. At 100 cm the catalogue runs from $530 to $10,171, because a 100 cm single-globe pendant and a 100 cm multi-tier crystal chandelier share a diameter and almost nothing else.

What one size step adds on the same model

The cleanest way to price a step up is to compare two variants of one product, so that silhouette, finish and suspension are held constant. Across the catalogue, 53 products offer both an 80 cm and a 100 cm variant, and the median difference between those two variants is $550, which is a 30.7% increase. The step from 120 cm to 150 cm is the steepest in the ladder: 22 products offer both sizes, and the median difference is $1,600, or 51.5%. The step from 180 cm to 200 cm is the largest in cash at a median of $2,000 across the 10 products that offer both. Percentage increases stay inside a 30.4% to 51.5% band from 40 cm all the way to 200 cm, so the increment tracks the base price rather than jumping at one particular size.

Step Models compared Median increase Median percentage
40 cm → 50 cm 10 $110 +30.4%
50 cm → 60 cm 63 $224 +32.9%
60 cm → 80 cm 79 $448 +48.3%
80 cm → 100 cm 53 $550 +30.7%
100 cm → 120 cm 30 $800 +34.7%
120 cm → 150 cm 22 $1,600 +51.5%
150 cm → 180 cm 14 $1,700 +34.0%
180 cm → 200 cm 10 $2,000 +30.4%

What the 80 cm to 200 cm jump costs overall

Ten products in the catalogue are built to order at both 80 cm and 200 cm. Comparing those two variants of the same product, the 200 cm version costs between 4.19 and 5.79 times the 80 cm version, with a median of 5.10 times. In absolute terms the same ten products show a minimum difference of $5,270, a median difference of $6,765 and a maximum difference of $10,600. One model from that set, am-ch-0001, lists its 80 cm variant at $1,769 and its 200 cm variant at $8,399, a difference of $6,630. Part of that money buys materials and part of it buys scale: the frame ring, the number of light elements, the suspension and the crate all change, and at 200 cm the fixture ships as freight rather than as a parcel. Ten products is a small sample, so read the ratio as an order of magnitude rather than a rule.

What actually moves the price: diameter, height and tier count

Holding the silhouette constant, three things move the price, and they do not move it equally. Diameter is the steadiest lever, at 30.4% to 51.5% per step as the table above shows. Total height is the lever buyers underestimate. On am-ch-0006 held at 1 m diameter, the variants run 3.5 m of total height at $3,129, 4 m at $3,639 and 6 m at $5,594, so 2.5 m of extra suspension adds $2,465, or 78.8%. On am-ch-0014 held at 1 m diameter, the variants run 4 m at $4,583, 6 m at $6,283 and 7 m at $7,283. Tier count is the third lever, and 119 of the 1,046 products describe at least one variant by tier. Only four model-and-diameter combinations in the measurable set span more than 1 m of height, so treat the height figures as one product family's pattern rather than a catalogue-wide gradient.

What the price includes, and what it does not

Every PALERILL price is a delivered price: our published terms state free standard shipping with import duties and taxes included, with no separate freight line added at checkout. Each order is made to order rather than pulled from stock. Handling before dispatch is 1 to 3 days, and the declared transit window is 38 to 55 days for the 48 core destinations and 45 to 70 days for the remaining 189, with the figure for your own destination confirmed in writing on the order. Those transit numbers are a service level benchmarked against our forwarder's published schedule, not a measured record of our own past shipments. What the price does not include is anything that happens above your ceiling: access equipment, structural strengthening, the electrician and any building-control approval sit with you and your contractor, and we do not quote for them because we cannot price local labour.

When a larger chandelier is not the right choice

Going up a size is not the right choice when the ceiling structure and its load capacity have not been assessed, because the heaviest part of that decision is not the money. It is also not the right choice when the room already reads correctly at the smaller diameter: at 100 cm the catalogue spans $530 to $10,171, so a well-chosen 100 cm fixture will out-perform a badly chosen 150 cm one in the same room, and the $2,000 step from 180 cm to 200 cm buys nothing if the fixture is not seen against the right volume. We do not recommend buying a size up to fill a delivery schedule or to hedge against a future room, and we do not recommend choosing a diameter from a photograph before measuring the opening it will hang in.

How to get a cost for your actual room

Price bands get you close, and a quotation gets you exact. The two tables above cover 8 diameter points from 40 cm to 180 cm as medians across the whole catalogue, so they tell you what a band normally costs rather than what your own fixture will cost. To convert a band into a firm figure we need four things from you, and we can then return a per-variant price with the finished dimensions at each tier and the technical drawing set. That drawing set is the step that matters, because it is issued before production starts: the diameter, the total drop, the fixing detail and the crate size are all settled while they are still free to change, rather than discovered on site after delivery. The $2,000 gap between the 180 cm and the 200 cm variant of the same family is the last number worth checking before you commit to a size.

  1. Measure the room and the opening the fixture hangs in, and note the ceiling height at the fixing point.
  2. Choose a diameter band from the tables above, then pick two or three models that offer your band.
  3. Send us the room type, the ceiling height and any plan or section drawing you already have.
  4. We return a per-variant price, the finished dimensions at each tier, and the technical drawing set.
  5. Approve the drawing set, and only then does production begin.

  • Every price is the shop list price in USD, read from the store catalogue export captured on 2026-10-08 (1,046 active products, 7,355 variant prices).
  • Only variant names that state a diameter in readable form are counted (for example Diameter 80 cm, height 1.3 m). Forms with no unit such as D470 or D500*H440 are excluded, because centimetres and millimetres cannot be told apart and Version D 6 heads would read as 6 cm. On the 2026-10-08 export that gave 796 readable variants out of 7,355, of which 788 fell inside the 15-300 cm sanity window and 8 were excluded for unit errors such as Diameter 80m. Repeating the same method on the 2026-10-09 export gives 825 readable variants (11.2 per cent) and 817 inside the window. The cost ratios below were computed on the 2026-10-08 set; the size figures in the FAQ use the later set.
  • Adjacent-step increases and the 80 cm to 200 cm multiple are same-model comparisons (two variants of one product line), so they are unaffected by pricing differences between models. The median price by diameter is a cross-model aggregate and mixes different shapes and grades; it describes the shape of the range only.
  • The height section uses only the am-ch-0006 and am-ch-0014 product lines, and in the readable subset only 4 model-and-diameter combinations span more than 1 m of total height. That sample is very small and must not be read as a site-wide rule.
  • 119 products describe their variant options by tier - a direct count of the string tier in variant names.
  • The cheapest and most expensive single configuration in the readable subset are $197 (a 16 cm bedside pendant) and $13,595 (a 1.2 m multi-tier chandelier), both list prices read directly.
  • Shipping and tax terms come from the wording the store itself publishes: free standard shipping with import duties and taxes included, with 1-3 days handling and declared transit windows of 38-55 days for the 48 core destinations and 45-70 days for the remaining 189. These are the published terms, not our measured fulfilment performance.
  • This article gives no installation labour, scaffolding, structural reinforcement or local electrical costs - we have no source for those figures, so none are quoted.
  • This article gives no weight figures: there is no usable net-weight field in the variants or the metafields.
  • This article does not state duty or import VAT rates: the store quotes tax-inclusive, and per-country rates depend on destination rules we do not hold.

FAQ

Is a 200 cm chandelier about twice the price of a 100 cm one? No, on the same model it is more than that. Measured across the 10 products offered at both 80 cm and 200 cm, the 200 cm variant costs a median 5.10 times the 80 cm variant, and the ratio never falls below 4.19.

Why is the 120 cm to 150 cm step the most expensive in percentage terms? It is the step where the tier count usually changes. Across the 22 products that offer both sizes, the median increase is $1,600, or 51.5%, against roughly 30% at the neighbouring steps.

Does the price include delivery? Yes. Our published terms state free standard shipping with import duties and taxes included, with handling of 1 to 3 days and a declared transit window of 38 to 55 days for the 48 core destinations and 45 to 70 days for the remaining 189.

Can I get a price for a size that is not listed? Above 200 cm the catalogue stops listing fixed variants, so those go through a project quotation with the drawing set issued and approved first. The published diameter range is set out in both units in chandelier sizes in inches and centimetres.
